YouTube Channel: KDBC Physics (Managed by Mr. Padmanabh Sarpotdar)

The department began its journey in the year 2010 along with the establishment of Science faculty in the college and running two double major B. Sc. courses viz. B. Sc. (Physics-Matehmatics) and B. Sc. (Physics-Geology) in association with the Department of Mathematics and the Department of Geology.

Under the NEP, the department offers Physics as a Major subject with Physics- Chemistry- Mathematics and Physics-Geology Mathematics combinations at entry level. Physics is also available as a Minor subject for Majors with Chemistry and Geology.

The current sanctioned teacher strength of the department is 2 Full-time teachers + 1 C.H.B. teacher.

The department also offers a certificate course in Astronomy at the college level, subject to the condition that the batch requirement is fulfilled (1 Batch = 24 students).  We put emphasis on developing the numerical problem-solving skills of the students by offering ample practice of the same during lecture sessions.

The department has received equipments under UGC XIth plan grants and has also successfully completed one minor research project  (Mr. P. S. Sarpotdar) funded by the University of Mumbai so far. One of the faculty members (Mrs. S. S. Malvankar) is currently pursuing Ph.D. at the Department of Physics, Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune.
